Although I often showcase examples of teachers doing it wrong, today I’d like to share a lesson prepared by a Canadian high school teacher who is doing it right. Examining the history of Marxism, which it contrasts with the current prevailing ideas about “social justice,” the slideshow does a good job of highlighting the dangers that arise when “group identity” takes precedence over individual rights.
I taught in Abbotsford where the topic of almost every administrators’ meeting, according to friends, was equity. The superintendent paid himself gobs of money but saw himself as the reincarnation of a communist, altruistic Christ. All he cared about was group outcome equality. He was a Marxist as long as he was paid higher than everyone else.

Thank you for this excellent lesson, one I hope is being spread to more of our youth. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it's mistakes.
